OK, class, The BeerLady is speaking, so listen and learn.

No matter what someone named the drink, there is no martini that contains champagne. Martinis do not contain cranberry juice. Martinis are not made with pineapple juice. Serving a drink in a V-shaped cocktail glass does not magically transform a drink into a martini, and it never will.

But that little rant aside, the Champagne Martini is still pretty tasty. It just needs a better name. Suggestions?

Recipe: Champagne Martini

  • 2 parts raspberry vodka
  • 5 parts champagne
  • 1 part Cointreau
  • 2 parts cranberry juice
  • 1 part pineapple juice

  1. Combine the vodka, Cointreau, cranberry and pineapple juice in a shaker over ice.
  2. Shake until very cold.
  3. Add champagne and give a quick stir, just to combine (over-stirring will destroy the bubbles).
  4. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass.
